The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 has for the first time identified that, a child who sees or hears, or experiences the effects of, domestic abuse is also to be regarded as a victim of domestic abuse. The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) 2022 estimate that 2.3% of adults aged 16 years and over were victims of sexual assault (including attempts) in the previous year. This course will build your skills, knowledge, and confidence when supporting victims of sexual abuse including victims from reporting through to the court system. Read more
According to the Crime survey England and Wales (2020) 16–19-year-olds are more at risk of domestic abuse than any other age group. The YPVA course will give you the skills to support young people experiencing abuse in their own intimate relationships. The course will explore dynamics of domestic abuse and how impacts young people differently. Read more
Every victim will be different and the support they require will also be different. Therefore, gaining knowledge and skills that will be inclusive to all is vital to providing the right support. Stalking is a pattern of persistent and unwanted attention that makes victims feel scared, anxious and harassed. Stalking may include a range of behaviours, varying from sending unwanted messages, phone calls, visits gifts, following someone to extreme cases of physical abuse or even murder. Research by Sheridan (2005) found that 77% of victims suffer 100 incidents before going to the police, and in 2020 ONS found that only 2% of cases get recorded by the police. Read more
