Get Help Our Services Community Support Therapeutic Support Therapeutic Support What is Therapeutic Support? We understand that survivors of domestic and sexual abuse can benefit from therapeutic support. The types of therapeutic support that we provide are all evidenced to aid recovery from trauma and are listed below. Counselling Counselling is an opportunity for you to speak one-to-one with a counseller in a safe environment about personal and emotional difficulties and worries as a result of domestic abuse. This might be something from the past, present or anything that concerns you about the future. The counsellor will help you to explore and sort-out problems and find strategies so you can live the life you deserve. Group Work We run a range of group work sessions to help survivors recover from domestic abuse. Group work provides the opportunity to recognise and understand the impact of abuse and to share experiences and information with other survivors. Survivors build confidence and self-esteem as they find their voices and explore new peer support networks. Holistic Therapies and Activities We recognise that trauma affects not only the mind and emotions but profoundly affects the body too: often "the body remembers what that mind cannot". Many survivors of abuse are known to experience both psychological and physical conditions. This trauma/stress in the body is sometimes called somatisation and for many years it was suggested that it was purely psychological. We work with our clients to identify what activities they would find helpful. Some of the therapies and activities we have facilitated include: art therapy, therapeutic CBT, mindfulness, yoga, meditation, gardening, exercise classes, body and beauty therapies, sleep hygiene, food and mood sessions and journaling Manage Cookie Preferences
